One of the many reasons I don't like tumblr, is I feel like it pretty much took the social part of out of blogging.  Granted, I know that I am one of the worst lurkers in human history, so it's hard to bitch. Idk,  I'm writing this fic and it just makes me remember the crazy days after the  2009 movie came out, and I remember all the amazing people I met (literally met, and online met) and just wanted to kind of give a shout out to yesteryear, I guess.

Plus, I'm still pissed that I couldn't go to [livejournal.com profile] kiscon, but that's another matter entirely. :D  I would have probably just run amok time and randomly began humping the legs of various writers and artists, and that couldn't have possibly ended well for anyone. [livejournal.com profile] romanse1 said that the next one is in Germany, so I'll likely have to give that a miss, but hopefully eventually they'll decide to come closer to me.  I mean, Mickey Mouse and K/S on a beach!

Let's see. I'm writing a cute little ficlet for the [livejournal.com profile] ksadvent, and feel like I'm dipping my toe back in.  I was stuck on a fic for a month or so. It helped tremendously to talk it through with another trekkie fan though. I ran into a plot hole from STID and was like "Well, fuck. Now what?" but I think we worked around it. Anyhoo, excited to be posting fic in K/S again.

I feel the same way about tumblr; it just seems like a one-sided conversation to me. There's no sense of community.

But, on a happier note, I adore your writing and look forward to your story posts :-)

Thanks, bb. There are some work-arounds but it's kind of a pain in the ass to get them all!

SNAP, i'm with you here. Fandom, for me, was more about the people and the interactions more than the source material - it's much more fun to love something when everyone else loves it too. i guess people like the faster pace of Tumblr, and there's no pressure for interaction? IDK, but I am so sad that AO3/Tumblr and Twitter seem to have destroyed traditional fandom :(

Hee, I remember when fandom was on icq and when it moved to livejournal, I was all WHAT. WHAT DO YOU MEAN THEY DON'T CHAT?! But I suppose it will shift back eventually!

I also miss the social interaction on LJ/DW. Though to be honest I do have a Tumblr and I enjoy it but it's one of those things I ignore if I'm busy. Whereas I still feel like more important stuff happens at LJ/DW.

I do the same. It's just awkward when I remember that I have a tumblr that I haven't used in awhile. Mostly I just use it so that I can drool over Benedict Cumberbatch. :D

I like Tumblr for all the wonderful fan art and photographs people share. It's a true gift. I just don't think it's a great place for text!

To me, Tumblr serves one part of fandom that LJ/DW aren't capable of servicing and LJ/DW facilitate discussion. I'm okay with going to two different places to get a good mix of fandom.

it does feel a bit spread over tumblr and twitter but to be honest, the only thing i really miss is the _pinto and _st glorious madness. all the fun tinhatting, walking and party posts, pg-13 cuts of trek porn, etc. it's kinda sorta there on tumblr, but it's more like a rave, where you bump into strangers with a similar purpose, rather than a large house party.

I don't feel any sense of connection on Tumblr and, to me, that's what fandom has always been about.

Me either, but to be fair, when my RL gets too crazy (oh what? You mean I have to stop reading this fic because 203920921 essays to mark by TOMORROW?)I lose track of livejournal. I just recently got a smartphone, so when I got the ap I was like OMG ALL THE K/S PEOPLE!
